Daily/Nightly Routine

To Help Maintain Our ‘Maturer’ Skin

As we reach midlife our skin needs a little extra care. Signs of ageing are starting to show as the levels of sebum have dramatically decreased. There is a decline in our estrogen levels too due to the menopause, which will cause our skin to dry out much quicker. Take a look at these 7 steps to looking after our skin

The 7 Steps Routine

  • Cleanse
  • Exfoliate
  • Toner
  • Serum
  • Eye Cream
  • Moisturise
  • SPF
  • Preferably cleanse x 2  Morning & Night to remove make-up, and then deep cleanse for pores, dead cells, and general environmental stresses. The beauty industry recommends we don’t use soap due to the ph alkaline levels which can strip the skin causing tightness, dryness & flakiness. Also, the Make-up wipes are not good as they tend to be full of stripping alcohol and chemicals. By using a cleanser with warm water and small circular movements it can stimulate the lymph flow to drain toxins.
  • Exfoliate at least 4 x a week with a buffing powder or facial brush which helps speed up the removal of dull skin cells and increase the circulation for brighter, smoother skin.
  • Toner which balances the ph of the skin, hydrates, and tightens the pores. Use a light non-astringent one. Rose Water is good to use.
  • Serum   Daytime & especially Night time when skin regenerates itself
  • Eye Creams  Every Morning & Nighthelps with fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles, puffiness and dryness
  • Moisturiser    Daytime & Night time. This is essential even for oily skin. Reduces fine lines, keeps skin subtle. Preferably and anti-oxidant, vitamin-rich one.
  • SPF  Sun Protection Factor. Essential every day even during the winter months

I try and follow most of the above steps. I’ve always had very greasy skin especially when I was young which I hated, but has probably benefited me later in life.

I like to stick to products I know as my skin can be quite sensitive. Over the years I’ve tried a few different ones, and I used to use the Liz Earle skincare range. About 2 years ago when I discovered the Neals Yard Organic Range I swopped over to them as I was using their products on my massage clients.

My Favourite Products I use

These are my favourite products to helping with the 7 Steps To Looking After Our Skin.  I love the smell of the Rose Collection and find this suits my skin which is still Combination Skin.

If you want to try out their products take a look at my shop link where you can order any of the range.  You can get them in some of the big stores, like John Lewis or you can also find local reps in your own area.  They will host a skincare party for you with good discounts available.
